Sonam Wangchuk is forcibly moved to a hospital after a 20-day hunger strike protesting India's education system.

Sonam Wangchuk, a 59-year-old engineer and climate activist, was forcibly moved to a government hospital in New Delhi on Saturday after his health deteriorated during a 20-day hunger strike. The activist has been protesting at Jantar Mantar as the figurehead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a movement demanding education reforms and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest was sparked by allegations of corruption and paper leaks in India's national examination system, which left millions of students frustrated and led to several suicides. While the administration moved Wangchuk to receive medical intervention following a court order, the CJP accused the government of "forcefully abducting" him without his family's consent. In response, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke began his own indefinite hunger strike and reaffirmed plans for a march to parliament on Monday. Despite the move, Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali J Angmo, stated that he remains alert and intends to continue his fast. Authorities have deployed additional security and barricades to manage the crowds of rioters and supporters.
