Kenmore Air CEO David Gudgel confirmed that all 11 people aboard a de Havilland DHC-3 Otter floatplane were accounted for after the aircraft made an emergency landing and caught fire near Sucia Island. The plane, which carried 10 passengers and one pilot, departed from Lake Union in Seattle headed for Roche Harbor before crashing into Shallow Bay at approximately 5:15 p.m. Emergency crews from the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Navy, and local fire and rescue departments responded to the scene. While everyone was rescued from the water, several passengers sustained injuries ranging from lacerations to broken bones, with at least one person remaining in critical condition. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are currently investigating the cause of the accident. Kenmore Air canceled all scheduled flights on Friday to focus on supporting the passengers and pilot. The airline is cooperating fully with investigators to determine the human, mechanical, and environmental factors involved in the crash.
