National Weather Service teams are surveying damage across the Chicago area following severe storms on Monday. Lansing Mayor Brian Hardy noted that the devastation was unprecedented in his 60 years in the area, though no one was seriously hurt. ComEd warned customers that restoration efforts may take several days as the region faces a more destructive weather season than in recent years. Outages reached over 530,000 customers on Monday, with nearly a quarter million still without power on Tuesday morning. Crews must clear downed trees and hazards before rebuilding infrastructure. While some areas like Bridgeview and The Morton Arboretum closed due to power outages, other locations like Tinley Park saw the Interstate Sports Dome rooftop flattened. Despite the damage, high temperatures are expected to reach 90 degrees on Tuesday, with temperatures easing slightly on Wednesday.
