Ford Motor announces the Fathom, a new midsize electric truck starting at $29,945
Ford Motor announced on Thursday that the company will launch the Fathom, a new midsize electric truck designed to offer an affordable option in the competitive electric vehicle market. The vehicle will start at a price of $29,945, including destination and delivery charges, which is significantly lower than the average price for new electric vehicles. The Fathom will be the first vehicle built on Ford's new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform. The administration announced that the UEV platform is key to bringing the company's Model e business unit to breakeven by 2029. The truck will feature a five-passenger seating capacity, a large touchscreen, a frunk, and BlueCruise hands-free driver assistance. Pre-orders for the Fathom are scheduled to begin in early 2027, with customer deliveries expected to follow later that year. The truck will be built using a new assembly tree manufacturing process at the Louisville Assembly Plant.
