Ford Motor Co. is recalling 565,691 Broncos and Bronco Raptors due to a potential engine compartment fire caused by a wiring harness defect.

Ford Motor Co. is recalling 565,691 Broncos and Bronco Raptors from the 2021–2026 model years to address a potential engine compartment fire. The issue stems from a wiring harness that lacks sufficient abrasion protection, allowing relative movement between the harness and surrounding components to expose internal circuits. These exposed wires can create intermittent shorts and arcing, which may ignite flammable components in the engine bay. Drivers may notice smoke in the air vents or a cluster warning message before flames appear on the passenger side of the engine compartment. While Ford Motor Co. has identified 15 field incidents where fires originated from the wiring harness, the automaker estimates that only about 1% of the recalled vehicles possess the defect. To resolve the issue, dealerships will install convolute sheathing with abrasion tape on the wiring harness free of charge. Owners will receive official notifications between August 24 and August 28.
