Ford Motor expands aftermarket business to boost profits and offer more customization options for vehicle owners
Ford Motor is significantly increasing its investment in the aftermarket industry to provide customers with more customization options across all price levels. The automaker is expanding its accessory and parts business, including the launch of Ford Custom Garage, a one-stop shop for factory-backed upgrades. These efforts aim to capture a larger share of the $53 billion U.S. aftermarket market by offering pre-built, high-margin packages for popular models like the Bronco, Mustang, and F-150. Matt Simpson, executive director of Ford Customization, noted that the company is aiming to increase customer loyalty by offering exclusive, limited-edition builds. These packages, such as the Maverick SV300T and the Mustang FP800S, come with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty when installed at a certified dealer. The administration announced that the automaker is targeting 8% annual growth in its high-margin software and physical services revenue through the end of the decade. These developments come as vehicles become increasingly complex, making factory-backed customization a more convenient and reliable option for enthusiasts.
