Jackie, a beloved bald eagle from the famous Big Bear nest, is stable after being rescued from a ground altercation with two subadult eagles.

Jackie, a prominent female bald eagle and matriarch of the Big Bear nest, is currently stable and receiving medical treatment at a specialty rehabilitation facility in Ojai. The nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley, which operates the popular nest cam, identified the bird as Jackie after she was spotted on the ground near Dana Point Park. The eagle was rescued by the San Dimas Raptor Rescue team after being observed in a "short ground altercation" with two subadult eagles. While Jackie successfully used her talons to defend herself, she was unable to fly away and remained grounded for several hours. Rescuers noted that while she lacked obvious physical injuries, she appeared very skinny and underweight. Jackie has become an internet favorite alongside her mate, Shadow, who continues to guard their nest and two young eaglets, Sandy and Luna. Friends of Big Bear Valley confirmed that Jackie is receiving diagnostic tests to determine her full recovery status.
