An avalanche on Pakistan's Broad Peak has left four climbers dead and six others missing. The ten-member international team was led by renowned Nepal-born climber Nirmal Purja, who is known for summiting all 14 of the world's 8,000-metre plus mountains in just over six months in 2019. Authorities have confirmed the identities of two victims: Nadhira Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthy from Oman and Pur Bahadur Gurung from Nepal. Search and rescue operations, which include ground teams and helicopters, have been suspended temporarily due to weather conditions. Several high-profile climbers are among the missing, including American Mallory Geis and Pakistani national Sohail Saki. To assist with the rescue, many climbers from neighboring K2 were forced to abort their summit pushes to provide reinforcements. The Alpine Club of Pakistan remains in constant contact with authorities to mobilize all available resources for the search.
