Kazakhstan has condemned a series of drone strikes on civilian tankers at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal in the Black Sea. The attacks, widely attributed to Ukraine, targeted four vessels over four days, including the Nordic Zenith, Asia, Nissos Ios, and Nelsa. While the strikes caused fires and required the evacuation of 22 crew members from the Nelsa, no oil was spilled and the terminal's mooring facilities remained intact. The Kazakh foreign and energy ministries described the strikes as an unacceptable infringement on global energy security and international trade. The CPC, which transports 80% of Kazakhstan's oil exports and handles approximately 2% of the world's oil supply, emphasized that the facility is a civilian asset protected by international law. The consortium noted that the attacks represent the fifth act of direct aggression against the terminal. As the pipeline serves major global producers including Chevron and ExxonMobil, the administration of the consortium highlighted the importance of these strikes to global logistics and the economic interests of its international shareholders.
