French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez Confirms Off-Duty Officer Detained Man After Paris Stabbing Attack
French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed that an off-duty police officer detained a man after he allegedly attacked and wounded three women with two kitchen knives in Paris. The incident occurred in the Porte de Clichy area, where the suspect used both knives to strike three women aged 19, 24, and 36. Two of the victims were reported to be in critical condition, including one who was reportedly pregnant. Bystanders intervened to pin the suspect to the ground, with one witness throwing a suitcase at him to drop his knives. While being held down, the suspect reportedly uttered the phrase, "It is Allah who commanded me." Interior Minister Laurent Nunez cautioned against jumping to conclusions regarding the motive, describing the suspect's remarks as "incoherent" and urging for caution before a formal terrorism investigation is launched. The attack follows a recent series of violent incidents across Europe, including a van ramming in Berlin and a stabbing in London.
