Zohran Kwame Mamdani stated that the administration is proactively preparing for a series of severe storms expected to hit New York City and the surrounding Tri-State area on Tuesday. The weather system is projected to bring torrential downpours, strong winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes. New York City officials have activated a Flash Flood Emergency Plan to manage the incoming weather, which includes clearing catch basins and implementing protective measures. A Flood Watch is currently in effect for much of New Jersey and New York City. Meteorologists warn that slow-moving thunderstorms may cause "training," where rain falls over the same areas repeatedly, potentially leading to flash floods. While Monday remains pleasant with low humidity, Tuesday will see a shift toward hotter, more humid conditions with highs approaching 90 degrees in some regions.
