Jensen Huang and Takahito Tokita lead a major initiative to integrate physical AI and robotics into Japan's manufacturing sector.

Jensen Huang, the president and CEO of Nvidia, and Takahito Tokita, the chief executive of Fujitsu, have launched a major initiative to integrate "physical AI" into Japan’s manufacturing landscape. The collaboration combines Nvidia’s technology with the robotics prowess of Japanese industrial giants, including Fanuc, Yaskawa, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. The initiative aims to develop smart robots capable of independent thought to address Japan's acute labor shortage and support its rapidly aging population. Huang noted that Japan’s reputation for high-quality manufacturing makes it an ideal environment for robots that must move independently without risk. To support this expansion, Nvidia introduced the Cosmos 3 Edge model, a world model designed to help systems navigate physical environments in real time. The company is also deepening ties across the healthcare and biotechnology sectors, partnering with pharmaceutical leaders like Astellas Pharma Inc. and Daiichi Sankyo. These moves position Nvidia as a core platform for real-world infrastructure, moving beyond its traditional role as a chip supplier to become a central driver of industrial automation and smart cities.
