The Gann Fire in Calaveras County has burned over 3,700 acres with zero containment as of Tuesday morning.
The Gann Fire, located in the central Sierra Nevada foothills of Calaveras County, has expanded rapidly to 3,760 acres as of Tuesday morning. The blaze started late Monday afternoon near Hogan Dam Road and Gann Road, just south of New Hogan Lake. Driven by hot temperatures and low humidity, the fire has shown no containment as follows of 11:16 a.m. Tuesday. More than 250 personnel, including Firehawk helicopters and air tankers, are currently combating the fire. A dozer rollover resulted in one firefighter being hospitalized for evaluation. While no structures have been destroyed yet, mandatory evacuations remain in effect for several zones, including CCU-130-B. Residents displaced by the fire can find shelter at the Jenny Lind Memorial District in Valley Springs. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office has also established an emergency shelter for domesticated animals at 300 W Daphne Street. Schools remain open despite the fire, though outdoor activities may be modified due to air quality monitoring.
