Goldman Sachs launches a new alternative investments platform to provide wealthy clients with direct stakes in fast-growing private companies.

Goldman Sachs has established a new alternative investments platform to help wealthy clients and family offices secure direct stakes in fast-growing private companies. The platform combines the firm's existing alternatives business with two new teams focused on individual private company investments and secondary advisory services. Kristin Olson, Goldman Sachs' global head of alternatives for wealth, stated that the move addresses the trend of successful startups remaining private longer, allowing early investors to capture significant growth before public debuts. The platform targets later-stage companies with established products and clear paths to profitability, specifically highlighting the demand created by the AI investment boom. Additionally, the firm launched a proprietary public-markets platform for upper-high-net-worth clients. This platform will be co-led by Goldman Sachs veterans Jean Altier Bohm and Kerry Blum. It aims to unify various public-market strategies into a holistic offering to help clients navigate a dynamic investment environment. These initiatives reflect Goldman Sachs' broader strategy to provide steadier revenues through wealth and asset management.
