Wes Moore offers $800 credit and expedited admission to students unenrolled by Howard University
Governor Wes Moore announced that hundreds of students who were suddenly unenrolled from Howard University can receive fast-tracked admission and an $800 credit to a University System of Maryland college. The move follows Howard University's decision to drop 502 incoming students who missed critical tuition and financial-aid deadlines just days before the fall semester began. While the university has reinstated more than 200 students, many remain without a place in the class. To assist the displaced students, Wes Moore directed the Maryland Higher Education Commission and the public university system to provide hands-on support in identifying programs and navigating financial aid. Students who enroll at a participating college will receive the $800 credit to help offset nonrefundable deposits previously paid to Howard. University System of Maryland Chancellor Jay Perman stated the goal is to help students continue their education with as little interruption as possible.
