Greek Police Fast-Track Investigation into the Death of Elisabeth-Jane Ross
Greek authorities have deployed their entire homicide division to determine the cause of death for Elisabeth-Jane Ross, a 38-year-old Scottish woman found inside a suitcase in Athens. Ross was discovered on July 18 in an abandoned building in the Kypseli district by a homeless man. Police are currently fast-tracking toxicology tests to determine if foul play was involved, as initial examinations showed no obvious signs of struggle or injury. Investigators are attempting to be identified by the Americans Ross planned to meet in the area. While her mobile phone continued to send messages for several days after her death, police believe these messages were sent by someone else to buy time. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has confirmed it is providing consular support to the family of Elisabeth-Jane Ross. Scottish First Minister John Swinney described the case as an "absolutely appalling case" and confirmed that the Scottish government will support the family.
