Greek police investigate the death of Elisabeth-Jane Ross after her body was discovered in a suitcase in Athens.
Greek authorities are investigating the death of Elisabeth-Jane Ross, a 38-year-old Scottish woman whose body was found in a suitcase in an abandoned building in the Kypseli district of Athens. The body was discovered by a homeless man on 18 July, approximately eight days after she was believed to have died. Police are currently awaiting toxicology tests to determine the and cause of death and to ascertain if foul play was involved. While the initial examination showed no signs of injury or struggle, the fact that she was found in a suitcase led authorities to treat the incident as a potential criminal act. Elisabeth-Jane Ross traveled to Greece from Cyprus on 29 June. Before her disappearance on 15 July, she was staying with friends in the area of Keratsini. Greek police are working with Interpol and US authorities to identify the circumstances of her death. The Scottish government and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office are providing consular support to her family.
