Amy Steadman and Sarah Myers allegedly plotted a murder-suicide to protect four children from their father's alleged abuse.
Mechanicville, New York, police have revealed that Amy Steadman and Sarah Myers allegedly conspired to kill their four children to escape reported abuse from the children's father, Brady Harmon. The six family members were found dead in an apartment on June 23 after a neighbor reported a stench. Investigators determined that the killings occurred on June 10, while the children were scheduled to have a phone call with their father, who lives in Utah. Police Chief William Rabbitt stated that Steadman and Myers allegedly used over-the-counter medications and prescriptions to poison the children, while 10-year-old Gavin Harmon was allegedly stabbed to death. Handwritten notes from the women allegedly claimed the deaths were a way to protect the children from Brady Harmon's alleged abuse. However, the father denied all allegations of abuse and expressed devastation over the tragedy. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities attempt to verify the claims made by the women.
