Three people died in a head-on collision on Highway 113 in Solano County on Friday morning. The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred at approximately 6:35 a.m. just north of Hay Road. Witness statements indicate that the driver of a red GMC pickup truck was reportedly speeding and attempting to overtake other vehicles when the truck veered into oncoming traffic. The vehicle collided head-on with a gray Ram pickup truck. The driver and passenger of the red GMC were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the gray Ram was also declared dead by fire personnel. Before the collision, the red GMC reportedly sideswiped a semi-truck, though the driver of that vehicle remained uninjured. Highway 113 was closed in both directions for several hours while authorities investigated the scene. The road was reopened to traffic by 10:15 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
