Los Angeles Police Pursue Stolen Mercedes SUV Through City Streets and Freeways During High-Speed Chase
The Los Angeles Police Department conducted a high-speed pursuit of a stolen white Mercedes-Benz SUV on Tuesday afternoon. The chase began near North Hollywood at approximately 5:30 p.m. and spanned across the San Fernando Valley, West Los Angeles, and downtown Los Angeles. During the pursuit, the suspect, who was reportedly armed with a handgun, tossed the firearm out of the window while weaving through heavy traffic, running red lights, and driving into oncoming lanes. The driver encountered a group of dirt bike riders on the 110 Freeway, narrowly missing several vehicles. The pursuit concluded when the driver entered a parking structure at the intersection of Hill and Eighth streets in downtown Los Angeles. Police officers established a perimeter around the garage and detained three of the four occupants of the vehicle. One suspect remains at large. Initial reports suggested the vehicle may have been stolen in the Laguna Beach area.
