Keith Maurice James Jr. faces first-degree murder charges for the fatal shooting of siblings Steve Allen and Giovanna Myrie

Keith Maurice James Jr., a 16-year-old from Baltimore City, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of use of a firearm in a crime of violence as an adult. The teenager is accused of fatally shooting 15-year-old Giovanna Myrie and her 9-year-old brother, Steve Allen, inside their Gwynn Oak home on July 7. Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough stated that investigators linked James Jr. to the crime using cell phone data, surveillance footage, and witness statements. Evidence suggests the teenager and Myrie were in a relationship; a friend reported that James Jr. threatened to kill Myrie if she "messed around with any other guys." During a recent court appearance, James Jr. remained silent as his attorney waived a bond hearing. The judge denied a request to transfer the suspect to a secure juvenile facility due to safety concerns. James Jr. will remain in custody as the investigation continues.
