Tropical Storm Bertha is expected to weaken as extreme heat and triple-digit temperatures persist across Texas.

Tropical Storm Bertha is currently weakening as it moves toward the coast, though it is expected to remain disorganized over the next several days. While the storm will bring a slightly increased chance of rain to the coast, most of its core rain will fall south of the storm's center. Consequently, the storm is not expected to cause significant problems for the Hill Country or North Texas. Simultaneously, an extreme heat warning is in effect for the Houston area as temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s to near 104 degrees. High humidity may make the heat feel as hot as 115 degrees, creating a high risk for heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Residents are advised to limit strenuous outdoor activity and take frequent breaks in air conditioning. In North Texas, the triple-digit heat will continue through the end of the week, with highs reaching up to 105 degrees.
