Nicholas Blanchard Organized Pro-ICE Rally in Augusta Following Death of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero
About 20 people gathered for a demonstration supporting ICE at the State House in Augusta on Wednesday. The rally followed public outcry after 26-year-old Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was killed by an ICE agent in Biddeford. Nicholas Blanchard organized the protest, stating he wanted the truth about the killing to emerge. Participants at the rally waved American and Donald Trump flags, with some holding signs that read "We love ICE" and "Deport all illegal immigrants." Jeff Robertson, an Augusta resident, attended because he supports ICE but stressed the need for accountability across all government agencies. Robertson asserted that everyone should comply with law enforcement when stopped, noting, "There’s no need for anybody to die." Blanchard urged citizens to take legal action if they feel a law enforcement action was improper. While the rally proceeded, counter-protesters were present on the opposite side of the street. The event highlighted local support for immigration enforcement and law compliance.
