Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron joined a coalition of nine European nations to develop a shared anti-ballistic missile capacity for Europe. The new coalition, which includes the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, aims to build a scalable defense shield to counter frequent Russian ballistic missile barrages. The primary focus is the FREYJA system, an interceptor developed by the Ukrainian firm Fire Point. During the meeting in Paris, Emmanuel Macron confirmed that Ukraine will acquire 16 Rafale fighter jets and several weapon systems, including licenses to manufacture AASM "Hammer" bombs, SCALP cruise missiles, and Aster-30 interceptors. The administration announced that Ukraine will also receive SAMP/T anti-ballistic missile systems. While the administration granted Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot missile systems, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of diversifying Ukraine's defense. By partnering with European allies, Ukraine seeks to reduce its reliance on a single source of protection while strengthening the continent's overall security against future threats.
