NBCUniversal and YouTube Partner to Integrate Peacock Premium Content into YouTube Premium Subscription
NBCUniversal and YouTube have reached a content agreement that will integrate Peacock Premium programming into the YouTube Premium subscription starting in early 2027. Under the deal, U.S. subscribers will gain access to Peacock's extensive catalog of ad-supported movies, original series, and live sports, including the NFL and NBA, directly through the YouTube app. YouTube Premium currently serves as an ad-free viewing experience for 125 million global users. The new partnership aims to transform YouTube Premium into a more robust streaming service comparable to Netflix or Hulu by providing the premium content that was previously missing from the platform. While the current price of YouTube Premium remains at $15.99 per month, the administration announced that the deal will allow existing subscribers to access Peacock content without an immediate price hike. This strategy marks a shift toward content aggregation, where media companies like NBCUniversal seek to expand their reach to younger audiences who spend significant time on YouTube. The deal may set a precedent for future wholesale distribution partnerships among major streaming platforms.
