Volodymyr Zelenskyy meets with President Trump to secure vital American support for Ukraine's ongoing fight against Russia
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Washington to hold closed-door talks with President Trump to secure more vital American help for Ukraine's fight against Russia. During the meeting, Trump described the meeting as a "Great Honor" and expressed his commitment to supporting Kyiv. Zelenskyy stated that the goal is to weaken the aggressor and keep up the pressure to bring an end to the war closer. Ukraine's recent successes against Russia have helped restore U.S. goodwill after the administration's initial reluctance to continue supporting Kyiv. Zelenskyy also met with U.S. Senate representatives to push for more sanctions on Russia. Additionally, the administration announced that envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would travel to Kyiv in the future. Simultaneously, Ukrainian forces have intensified long-range strikes on Russian oil refineries, causing a significant energy crisis for Russia. These strikes have reduced Russia's production capacity by 35 to 40 percent, creating economic pressure on the Kremlin and the Russian population.
