Volodymyr Zelenskyy meets with President Trump to secure vital American support for Ukraine's ongoing war against Russia
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Washington to hold closed-door talks with President Trump to secure more vital American help for Ukraine's fight against Russia. The administration announced that the meeting was a "Great Honor" for President Trump, who expressed a positive outlook on the discussions. During the visit, Zelenskyy also met with over 60 U.S. Senate representatives to push for more sanctions on Russia. Ukraine's recent successes against Russia have helped restore U.S. goodwill after the administration's initial reluctance to maintain support for Kyiv. Zelenskyy stated that the goal is to weaken the aggressor and keep up the pressure to bring an end to the war. To facilitate this, the administration announced that envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would travel to Kyiv in the future. Simultaneously, Ukrainian forces launched a series of long-range drone strikes against Russian oil refineries and logistics hubs, including the Lukoil refinery in the Volgograd region. These strikes aim to degrade Moscow's military capabilities and exhaust Russia's war machine.
