Howard University recently notified over 500 incoming freshmen that they were unenrolled from the Class of 2030 because they failed to meet the July 10 tuition payment deadline. The university stated that these updates are necessary to finalize academic programs, housing, and student support services before the semester begins on August 17. While the university maintains that it provided multiple communications throughout the spring and summer to help students secure their spots, many students argue the decision is a mistake. Many impacted students, including Isabella Williams, claim they were still waiting on outside scholarships and financial aid that are often not posted to accounts until August 1. The university acknowledged that students with pending external funding may have been unfairly impacted and is currently reviewing cases on a case-by-case basis.
