Mars Wrigley will move its corporate headquarters from Newark to Chicago by December 2027, a move that will eliminate 307 jobs in New Jersey by mid-October. The global snacking giant, which produces iconic brands such as M&M's and Snickers, submitted a WARN filing to the state confirming the transition. The company spent $100 million to expand its Chicago footprint, where it recently acquired the snack maker Kellanova. The departure marks a significant shift for the state, which has seen over 9,700 jobs lost through WARN notices this year alone. Michele Siekerka, CEO of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, expressed concern over the trend, noting that the state must improve its business climate to retain major employers. While the corporate hub will move, Mars Wrigley will maintain its manufacturing operations in Hackettstown. The move follows other high-profile departures from New Jersey, including Samsung Electronics America and ExxonMobil, both of which relocated their headquarters to Texas.
