More than a thousand cyclists concluded the 2026 RAGBRAI in Dubuque, Iowa, by dipping their tires into the Mississippi River to mark the end of a 391-mile journey. The event, which began in 1973, is recognized as one of the oldest and largest bicycling tourist events globally. Ride Director Matt Phippen noted that the success of the event relies heavily on the hospitality of Iowans, who provide support to riders from across the country. Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh encouraged residents to participate in the festivities by providing lawn chairs and coolers to welcome the cyclists downtown. Participants, including Cody Chamberlain of the Air Force Cycling Team, highlighted the cultural experience of the ride. Chamberlain noted that the journey allowed him to explore Iowa's history and culture while receiving support from local residents. Riders Kelly Barry and Sidney Barry also praised the sense of community pride displayed by the small towns along the route.
