Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi held separate phone calls with Saudi Arabia's Faisal bin Farhan and Oman's Badr Al-Busaidi to discuss the future of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that these talks emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation and advance joint diplomatic efforts to establish regional stability and eliminate insecurity caused by aggressive U.S. actions. This diplomatic push comes during a temporary pause in U.S.-Iran hostilities. While the administration announced a halt to strikes on Iranian military capabilities, President Trump said that U.S. strikes will resume if negotiations do not produce progress. During the same period, Oman and Iran have been working on a joint regional mechanism to manage the maritime passage, which would include voluntary fees for shipping and oil industries. Both the U.S. and Oman have opposed compulsory tolls, while Iran remains insistent on maintaining control and collecting fees for safe passage. Markets have responded positively to the potential for a lasting peace agreement.
