These operations hit multiple targets, including the sanctioned cargo ships Port Olya-2 and Begey, as well as a Project 12418 Molniya-class missile boat. The vessels were reportedly ferrying Iranian supplies, such as ammunition and components for Shahed drones, to Russia. While Ukraine celebrated the expansion of its operational range, Iran condemned the strike as an "act of aggression" after a Ukrainian drone hit an Iranian commercial vessel, killing one sailor. Iran warned that the strike reflected an "irrational and hostile approach" by Kyiv, which could further inflame the Russia-Ukraine war. The administration noted the strategic importance of the Caspian Sea, which has served as a vital corridor for the two allies to bypass conventional shipping routes. President Trump warned that if China and Russia continue to provide weapons to Iran, it would be "very bad for them."
