Micheál Martin's new government jet lacks an Israeli navigation system due to Ireland's anti-Israel stance.
Ireland's new government jet, a Dassault Falcon 6X, was purchased without the FalconEye navigation system co-developed by the Israeli defense company Elbit Systems. The €53m aircraft, which primarily transports Micheál Martin and other government ministers, was bought without the Israeli technology because Ireland blacklisted all Israeli defense technology in 2024. Former Irish Air Corps pilot Kevin Phipps noted that the missing system provides the ability to land in fog when other aircraft would have to divert to airport. While Israeli officials, such as Alex Gandler, described the decision as a result of 'anti-Israel brain rot,' the Irish Department of Defence stated that the aircraft has no current limits on its operational capability. Despite the exclusion of the FalconEye system, four new Irish Air Corps helicopters were still delivered with Elbit systems because they were essential for operation. The decision highlights Ireland's robust anti-Israeli stance, which includes banning imports from certain West Bank settlements and recognizing a Palestinian state in 2024.
