Frank Bisignano, Brad Gerstner, and Ted Cruz Discuss Plans to Expand Donald Trump Accounts to All Children

Officials are advocating to enroll every American child in the new tax-advantaged Trump Accounts, a savings vehicle designed for minors. Frank Bisignano, IRS CEO, stated that the objective is for all families to have an account, noting that 6.5 million children have signed up so far. Brad Gerstner, who helped promote the accounts, suggested that auto-creation of the accounts for eligible children is the goal. At a recent event, Donald Trump personally stated that the government would automatically create a "tax-free investment account for every newborn American child." The administration announced efforts to maximize participation, which include federal seed money for babies born between 2025 and 2028. Texas Senator Ted Cruz supported this expansion, thanking Donald Trump for the commitment to auto-enrollment. While the initial system requires manual enrollment through tax filings, proponents argue that automatic enrollment would secure long-term savings for American families. Critics, however, question the cost and complexity of expanding federal involvement in individual savings.
