Col. Mohamad Marwan Salem, a senior police commander, was among those connected to deadly Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.

Israeli airstrikes have killed at least a dozen people in Gaza over the past two days, continuing almost daily despite a months-old ceasefire. On Tuesday alone, casualties included a woman and six police officers from Jabalia, northern Gaza, following an airstrike on a police station. A man was also killed in a bombing in Khan Younis, and an Israeli force reportedly shot and killed a child in Rafah. The Israeli military stated that four of the police officers killed in Jabalia were Hamas militants, though it provided no evidence tying them to planning or executing attacks. Hamas-run officials noted that Col. Mohamad Marwan Salem, a senior police commander and head of the Jabaliya police station, was among those reported killed. The United Nations human rights office has previously criticized Israeli attacks on Gaza’s police, suggesting a pattern that blurs the lines between law enforcement and armed fighters. Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that over 1,123 people have died in the territory since the ceasefire began.
