Firas al-Masri and five family members were killed in an Israeli air strike on a home in the Gaza Strip.
Firas al-Masri and his wife, Salsabeel al-Masri, were killed along with their three daughters and son in an Israeli air strike on Tuesday. The strike hit the family home in the al-Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City while they were asleep. The Israeli military confirmed the strike targeted a Hamas operative and is currently evaluating the results. The attack occurred despite a ceasefire signed more than nine months ago. While the truce halted full-scale fighting, Israeli strikes have continued daily. Since the ceasefire began, at least 1,168 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks. The UN human rights office condemned the intensification of these strikes, noting that nowhere in Gaza remains entirely safe for civilians. Spokesman Thameen Al-Kheetan warned that the continued killing of civilians may constitute violations of international humanitarian law and war crimes. Meanwhile, mediators continue to work on a plan to end the conflict, which includes the disarmament of Hamas and Israeli withdrawals.
