Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Guerrero were honored during a nationwide day of action following their deaths by ICE agents.
Hundreds of people participated in a nationwide day of action on Saturday to honor Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Guerrero, two men killed during separate immigration enforcement operations. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was fatally shot during an operation in Houston, while Johan Sebastian Guerrero was killed days later in Maine after allegedly not complying with orders. The events included over 300 vigils across the country, including a march in Los Angeles where participants carried empty coffins to represent lives lost in immigration custody. In Rochester, a candlelight march followed a vigil to the federal building. Advocates and rioters are now demanding federal accountability and urging cities to stop cooperating with ICE. Organizers stated that the deaths have created a significant outcry in local communities, prompting calls for justice and changes to how the agency handles enforcement. Participants noted that while the two men were not the intended targets of the operations, their deaths have deeply affected the communities they left behind.
