Recent bloodwork revealed that her packed cell volume has dropped to 13%, indicating that her anemia has worsened since the previous update. Jackie was rescued in late July by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation's San Dimas Raptor Rescue team after a fight with two other eagles. Since her rescue, Jackie has been under specialized care at the Ojai Raptor Center. The veterinary team is currently conducting advanced diagnostic testing and has requested expedited laboratory tests to determine the best course of treatment. Friends of Big Bear Valley, the nonprofit that operates the nest cam, remains hopeful for her recovery. Jackie is well-known to millions of viewers who follow her life and her mate Shadow in the San Bernardino National Forest. Despite her current critical condition, the bird has shown signs of strength by perching and eating independently.
