Jackie, a beloved bald eagle from the Big Bear nest, is stable after being rescued from a ground altercation with two subadult eagles.

Jackie, a prominent female bald eagle and matriarch of the famous Big Bear nest, is currently stable and receiving treatment at a wildlife rehabilitation facility in Ojai. The nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley, which operates the popular nest cam, identified the bird as Jackie after she was spotted on the ground near Dana Point Park. The eagle was rescued by the San Dimas Raptor Rescue team after being observed in a "short ground altercation" with two subadult eagles. While Jackie successfully used her talons to defend herself, she was unable to fly away and appeared exhausted and underweight. Because Jackie is not banded, the nonprofit initially could not confirm her identity, but they have since concluded she is the missing mate of Shadow. While Jackie recovers, Shadow remains at the nest to protect their two young offspring, Sandy and Luna. The administration of the nonprofit stated that Jackie is in the best place she can be while awaiting diagnostic results.
