Marty St. George Announces JetBlue's New First-Class Cabin and Expanded Fare Options
JetBlue Airways is overhauling its seating and fare structure to introduce a domestic first-class cabin named BlueFirst. Marty St. George, President of JetBlue, stated that the new system will allow customers to choose their preferred onboard experience and fare type in two simple clicks. The BlueFirst cabin will debut on planes without Mint business class by the end of 2026, offering a range of options including a 'Base' fare that strips away perks like seat selection for a lower price. This move follows a trend by competitors United Airlines and Delta Air Lines to unbundle premium seats. JetBlue is also renaming its 'Core' economy seats to 'Main' and introducing 'EvenMore' fares for extra legroom. While Mint business class will retain its Standard and Flex options, it will not have a base offering. The administration of the airline noted that premium cabins are currently outperforming economy seats, with revenue growth significantly higher than standard coach. The new structure aims to provide more flexibility for travelers seeking different levels of comfort and pricing.
