Marty St. George oversees JetBlue's launch of new BlueFirst first-class cabin and expanded fare options
JetBlue Airways is introducing a new domestic first-class cabin called BlueFirst, which will debut on aircraft without Mint business class by the end of 2026. Marty St. George, President of JetBlue, stated that the new fare structure aims to provide customers with more choice and flexibility. The airline is unbundling its premium seats by offering three fare types for each cabin: Base, Standard, and Flex. The BlueFirst Base option provides a lower price point by removing perks such as seat selection and offering fewer points. This strategy mirrors moves by United Airlines and Delta Air Lines to capture growing demand for premium travel. While JetBlue will offer basic options for its EvenMore and Main cabins, it will exclude Mint from the base fare structure. The administration announced that premium cabins are outperforming economy seats, with revenue growth significantly higher than economy. Analysts suggest that while basic premium fares may make first-class more accessible, they may not necessarily lower the overall cost of travel.
