John James wins Republican nomination for governor of Michigan
John James has won the Republican nomination for governor of Michigan, defeating businessman Perry Johnson in the primary. The 45-year-old congressman and Army veteran presented himself as a capable public servant with business experience, emphasizing his goal to make Michigan more affordable, safer, and stronger. James pledged to repeal the state income tax, which he claims would save the typical family nearly $5,000 a year.
