Jamie Dimon declares San Francisco has turned a corner as JPMorgan Chase & Co. expands its Bay Area presence
Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co., stated Monday that San Francisco has successfully navigated its post-pandemic recovery. The nation’s largest bank is establishing a new corporate center in the region, highlighting its commitment to the Bay Area economy. Dimon praised local leadership and the city's progress on public safety and housing, noting that the city's high costs reflect its business success. To address housing affordability, JPMorgan Chase & Co. committed $750 billion through 2035 to increase the U.S. housing supply, including financing for 1 million affordable housing units. Locally, the bank invested $200 million into a 342-unit waterfront housing project and $15 million into a new fund for middle-income housing. These investments are part of the bank's American Dream Initiative, which aims to boost economic mobility by streamlining zoning and building codes. The bank's expansion includes renovating its Mission Street hub and increasing mortgage lending to assist 500,000 customers, including 200,000 first-time homebuyers.
