Prediction market Kalshi issues cease-and-desist letter to Netflix over allegedly defamatory documentary trailer
Prediction market Kalshi sent a cease-and-desist letter to Netflix on Friday, demanding the streaming service remove the trailer for its upcoming documentary, "The Prediction Games." Kalshi claims the trailer is defamatory and contains fabricated content, specifically regarding a trade shown in the footage. While the trailer features traders partying in Las Vegas, Kalshi argues that the footage misleads viewers by showing a trade that was made before a court order banned the company from operating sports-related markets in Nevada. Netflix maintains that the footage is not fabricated, noting that the trade in question was placed in 2025, prior to the court order. Kalshi insists that thes terms like "bet slip" used in the trailer have never appeared on its platform, as the company avoids gambling terminology to distinguish its products as trading rather than gambling. Netflix, however, highlights its journalistic integrity and asserts that the documentary features interviews with key industry leaders, including Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour.
