Harland Sanders, the founder of the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) empire, will have his personal belongings and primary Kentucky estate put up for public auction this week. The sale includes his former 5,000-square-foot home, Blackwood Hall, and the Claudia Sanders Dinner House, a restaurant he opened after selling the KFC brand in 1964. The Settle family, who has operated the dinner house for over 50 years, seeks a new owner who will preserve the legacy of the Sanders brand. Notable items for sale include his signature clip-on bow tie, a 1964 planner with handwritten notes, and several pressure cookers, including his favorite one nicknamed 'Bertha.' The auction is being conducted by The Menish Group to cater to a worldwide audience of fans. The Settle family hopes the new owners will continue to serve the community and honor the history of the marketing genius who created the iconic 'Colonel' persona.
