Shelley Jones, the founder of the PurrfectlyFeral rescue, discovered a rare kitten born with a congenital disorder called diprosopus. The kitten, named Gemini, features two noses and two mouths, a condition often referred to as a "Janus cat" due to its resemblance to the two-faced Roman god. The kitten was the first of eight born by a stray mother cat brought into the rescue three weeks ago. While most Janus kittens are stillborn or survive for only a short time, Gemini is currently being monitored around the clock. Because the mother cat rejected Gemini as the first of the litter, Jones provides the kitten with bottle feedings every hour. Jones noted that while the kitten is "remarkable," it is also "very sad" because the mother can only feed one mouth at a time. The rescue relies on public donations to provide every cat with a chance at survival, and Jones stated the team feels privileged to care for the "little miracle."
