Iran's army launched drone strikes against strategic U.S. military assets in Kuwait and Bahrain following a recent heavy wave of U.S. strikes against the Islamic Republic. The strikes targeted aircraft shelters, satellite communication systems, and equipment storage facilities at Kuwait's Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base, while also hitting power generators and navigation systems at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council, criticized Iran for the attacks, describing them as a blatant aggression and a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty. These hostilities reflect a resumption of the arms exchange between the U.S. and major regional powers. Meanwhile, President Trump indicated that he would like Congress to add tariffs on Iran to a bipartisan sanctions bill against Russia and Tehran. While the U.S. imports very little from Iran, the administration announced that these duties would be added to the bill to help secure its passage. Oil prices rose on Friday morning as the IRGC reportedly stopped two tankers from passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
