The administration confirmed that Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad is believed to have been killed during an Iranian strike at a Jordan air base.

The administration announced that Army Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, is believed to have been killed in action during an Iranian attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. Previously listed as missing, the New York native was confirmed deceased following the recovery of remains from the site. Her death brings the total number of U.S. service members killed since the conflict began to 18, with roughly 500 others wounded. The casualties occurred following the collapse of a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran. While Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth previously described the campaign as a "historic and overwhelming victory," the rising death toll highlights Iran's continued ability to strike U.S. bases. Other soldiers killed in recent strikes include Pfc. Isabella Gonzales and 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan. Additionally, Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton died during a controlled drone detonation in Iraq. President Trump noted that troops are currently fighting to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
