An off-duty Lawrence Police Department officer was one of two people injured in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis on July 31. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department records show officers responded to gunshots in the 1900 block of Kildare Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Deputy Chief Travis Cline of the Lawrence Police Department stated that the officer was off duty at the time of the incident. Both the Lawrence Police Department officer and a second individual were hospitalized following the shooting. The Lawrence Police Department officer remained in stable condition, while the second person was reported to be in critical condition. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the shooting. The Lawrence Police Department is conducting an administration investigation into the matter.
