Wildfire Crews Battle Multiple Large Fires Across Central and Southern Oregon
Firefighters are currently managing dozens of large wildfires across Oregon, with over 12,000 personnel assigned to 34 major incidents. In Central Oregon, the Ten Mile Fire is 77% contained, while the Coyote Fire and Henry Fire continue to show active behavior. In the south, the Rowe Creek Complex has reached 35% containment, and the Shingle Fire remains at 0% containment as crews work to strengthen lines and protect structures. The Oregon Department of Forestry is prioritizing initial attacks and urging residents to exercise extreme caution. In the Bench Fire area, six primary residences were confirmed lost to the fire. Meanwhile, the Akawa Butte Fire and the Grasshopper Fire are seeing active mop-up operations to secure perimeters. Authorities have issued various evacuation levels across the state, including Level 1, 2, and 3 orders for the Brewer, Green Mountain, and Crosswhite West fires. Motorists are advised to check the Oregon Department of Transportation's TripCheck website for current road statuses and closures.
